Local Storage Notice

Effective: October 27, 2026 · Last updated: October 27, 2026

Moose Tracker sets no cookies of its own. It does keep some data in your browser (in IndexedDB and localStorage) so your work is still there next time. That data is strictly necessary to remember your songs and settings, stays on your device and is not sent to us, so there is no cookie banner. Cloudflare, which delivers the site, may set a strictly necessary security cookie if its bot protection is switched on; if that happens we will list it on this page.

What is stored

WhereWhatWhy
IndexedDBYour songs and their saved versions; the trash (kept 30 days); your saved sounds; the autosave of what you were editing; imported samples inside songsSo work survives closing the tab
IndexedDB (optional)A copy of the audio the app has already rendered for songs you played ("audio cache"), so playing the same song again, or after a reload, starts at once. Local to this device, never uploaded; size-limited (default 256 MB, oldest unused removed first)To save your device the work of rendering again
localStorageDisplay and layout choices (for example Advanced mode, CRT look, panels), lesson progress, and whether you have dismissed the first-run noticeTo remember your preferences and where you were in the lessons

None of this includes your name or any account information, and none of it is read by us.

How to clear it

Back up first: clearing data cannot be undone. Save .mtk files to keep your songs. Private/incognito windows and some browsers delete this data automatically.
