Use Moose Tracker with your AI
Moose Tracker has a free, public MCP server, so an AI assistant can write sound effects, UI sounds and full songs as notes, and the Moose Tracker synthesizer plays them. It is not an AI music generator: your assistant writes the notes (a small amount of text, not audio), Moose Tracker checks and renders them. You get WAV or Ogg files, or a link that opens the song in your browser. More about Moose Tracker.
The server address
https://mcp.moosetracker.app/mcp
Streamable HTTP. No sign-in and no API key (choose "no authentication" if the client asks). Free, with fair-use limits. Details are in the API & MCP terms and Privacy.
Grok
- Plugin: the plugin is open source at github.com/moose-tracker/moose-tracker-plugin. In Grok Build,
grok plugin install moose-trackerworks once the plugin is listed in the Grok marketplace (it has been submitted and is waiting for review), as the repository's README says. - Right now, by hand: in Grok Build, add this to your
config.toml:[mcp_servers.moose-tracker] url = "https://mcp.moosetracker.app/mcp" - grok.com and the Grok app: add a custom connector (a custom remote MCP server) with the URL above and no authentication.
Claude
- claude.ai and Claude Desktop: add a custom connector (a custom remote MCP server) with the URL above and "No sign in" for authentication. Anthropic's steps are in Get started with custom connectors using remote MCP. Team and Enterprise plans may need an owner to add it.
- Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http moose-tracker https://mcp.moosetracker.app/mcp
ChatGPT
Where your plan allows custom MCP servers, add a custom remote MCP server with the URL above and "No authentication". Availability depends on your plan and workspace settings; see OpenAI's help article for the current steps.
Cursor and VS Code
Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json or .cursor/mcp.json):
{
"mcpServers": {
"moose-tracker": { "url": "https://mcp.moosetracker.app/mcp" }
}
}
VS Code (.vscode/mcp.json):
{

}
}
Any other MCP client
Add a remote MCP server using the Streamable HTTP transport, the URL above, and no authentication. Menus change between releases, so use your client's own instructions for adding a custom remote MCP server.
No skills support? Paste these instructions
The plugin includes a short instruction file (SKILL.md) that teaches an assistant how to use the five tools well. If your client has no skills, copy it and paste it into your assistant's custom instructions or the start of a chat:
Try it
- "Make me a short, crisp UI click sound as WAV."
- "Write a 30-second jazzy loop."
- "Make eight game sound effects: coin, jump, hit, laser, power-up, explosion, menu click and a win jingle, as WAV files."
The assistant has five tools: describe (a short guide), sfx (WAV sound effects), song (checks a song and gives a browser link), render (Ogg or WAV audio) and convert (moves a song between text, project files and share links). Rendered files are deleted after about 2 hours, so download what you want to keep.
