We want Moose Tracker to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, large controls or reduced motion.
What we do
- Keyboard: most controls can be reached and used with the keyboard, and the pattern editor is built for keyboard use; shortcuts are listed under ?.
- Screen readers: controls such as knobs, sliders and switches expose names, values and roles; status messages and the cell inspector are announced in a polite live region; the song order is a keyboard-operable list.
- Contrast and size: we aim for WCAG 2.2 AA contrast and touch-target sizes. Settings has High contrast and Large touch targets options (the large targets, 44 px, also turn on automatically on touch devices). We have not had a full third-party audit and do not claim full conformance.
- Motion: if your system asks for reduced motion, animated scopes and transitions are calmed or paused.
- Plain language: help text, preset descriptions and the lessons in Learn use plain words.
Known limits
Some visual graphs (waveforms, envelope and filter shapes) are visual aids; the same values are available as labelled controls. The pattern grid is drawn on a canvas; the cell inspector and status line describe the selected cell in text. Some tasks, such as editing the pattern grid, are easier with a keyboard than with a screen reader.
